Who could argue with the barefoot days of summer? Going barefoot has become synonymous with the feeling of freedom, ease, peace and simplicity. This seems to be the norm for young children playing outside, but somehow as many of us get older we lose touch with that barefoot playfulness. But what if we were to find out that being barefoot on the earth actually holds a number of absurdly powerful health benefits? Would it be worth a second look?

What we’ve now found out is that placing your bare skin directly on the earth physically grounds you. Wait, the same way buildings and appliances are “grounded”? You bet. As we know from these older applications, grounding something prevents a buildup of electricity and any potential surges that may come as a result of that dangerous buildup. The truth is that most of us just never applied this understanding to our own bodies!

All kinds of research now show the process of grounding yourself, or connecting with the earth, to hold multiple benefits for both the physical body and your mental well-being. What happens is that the second you place that bare foot on the ground, you discharge the buildup of free radicals buzzing around within you. Free radicals are those scavengers that go tearing through your body and throw your entire system out of balance. This destruction can be seen as the deterioration of tissue and all the other signs of accelerated aging!

Now, think about the implications of this discovery for a minute. Just touching the bare earth with your hands or feet actually transfers these damaging free radicals into the earth! This helps to keep your body healthier, younger, and more fit…but there’s more. While that stream of harmful free radicals transfers out, a stream of electrons comes in. These electrons help restore balance and harmony to your whole system. Since your whole system includes not just your muscle tissue and bones, but all of your brain tissue and pathways, you experience some wild benefits across the board!

The most overwhelming feeling that comes from grounding, however, is the stress release. The stress literally flows right out of you as your body gets back in sync! In addition, grounding has been known to improve energy levels, respiration and circulation- and as a result, massively reduces healing time. It’s one of the most powerful resources we have at our disposal- and it’s free! The option is always there for us…we just have to take it. Perhaps looking back to the unlimited energy and quick healing of those playful children does hold some value, even to those of us who would like to think we outgrew that a long time ago ;)

I thank your mother, my long time friend, for sending me your website address. I like your approach to staying well and feeling well, and look forward to learning, as well as being reminded of things like the importance of exercise. Like your explanation of grounding our barefeet!

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate the kind words! I’ll keep it coming

Im right there with ya John. Tell me some more good stuff. My radicals are flowing as we speak.

Cool! I knew it felt better to be barefoot, didnt know there was science behind it! Lots of great info so far John, keep it up.

Happy New Year John, I finally had time to check out your site, very cool!! I’m enjoying your posts and the info. I look forward to digging a little deeper, I’ll pass the site on to some friends.

Terrific!

Very interesting. Grounding apart, if it were possible to go to the office and walk around with socks and shoes off, that itself would energizing as that wearing shoes can also be taxing throughout the day. Even driving without shoes and socks can save a fair amount of energy on long drives. Along with grounding, one should also opt for centering. Good write up.

Hiren thank you for your sound advice. Nice work John.
